Trade pattern

Chemical Trade

Ships trading in the chemical trade load usually a wide variety of very different cargoes. Often cargoes with very high quality requirements must be loaded. Tanks are usually cleaned very carefully after every cargo, even if a cargo similar to the previous one is loaded.

The typical cleanliness requirements in this trade are water white and high purity, depending on the nature of the cargo to be loaded. This determines the washing intensity.

CPP Trade

Cargoes in the CPP trade are mostly petroleum products. They have very similar properties and just the composition varies. Quality requirements are usually lower compared with the chemical trade. Tanks are often just well drained and another similar petroleum cargo is loaded without washing the tank.

Industry guidelines regarding the washing requirements are published by the Energy Insitute in their HM50 guidelines.

MIRACLE recipes in Chemical and CPP Trade

MIRACLE doesn’t know whether the user trades in Chemicals or CPPs.
For CPP cargoes such as Gasoline, Diesel etc we show both recipes, the one which would be applied in the chemical trade and the one that would be applied in the CPP trade.

See example below:

Crude Oil

Crude oil tankers are most effectively prepared for their next voyage by circulation of their cargo. This procedure is called COW (Crude Oil Washing).
Industry guidelines regarding the washing requirements are published by the Energy Insitute in their HM40 guidelines.

Usually crude oil tankers are dedicated for this cargo. Some tankers transport crude oil cargoes occasionally next to other petroleum products. COW recipes and recipes leading to other petroleum products are displayed for crude oil cargoes.
